What is Embody?Mission: Embody is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to positively impacting global health and well-being for all people. We provide access to physical and mental wellness education for all regardless of race, identity, orientation, creed, able-ness, or ability to pay. Using the healing tools of yoga and mindfulness, and through providing meaningful volunteer and service opportunities, we help people regain agency over their own well-being. Our FREE weekly programs and events empower individuals to become healthier, happier, and make the world better in their own way. We are dedicated to improving the quality of people’s daily lives so they can “Feel Better Do Good."
Where Do We Serve? At Embody we are in the business of creating ACCESS! We make the healing practices of yoga & meditation available to thousands, and we believe someday hundreds of thousands. We started this mission in Grand Rapids, MI, and have expanded into Northern CA. We enable access to communities who would not otherwise have the benefits of physical and mental wellness education tools and practices..
We are also providing online resources and content now accessible to anyone with Internet access! Who Do We Serve?Embody serves those with addiction, depression, anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, health issues, loneliness, isolation as well as adults & young adults who struggle with homelessness/housing instability, domestic violence, systemic racism, and LGBTQ issues. We serve those who are recovering from natural disasters. We serve the underserved, at-risk populations, those who have simply fallen on hard times financially & emotionally, as well as anyone who may simply need a safe & healing place where they feel welcome and accepted just as they are. At Embody we believe happy & healthy people want give back and make the world better.
How Do We Serve?Embody hosts virtual gatherings every Wednesday evening 3:30pm PT | 6:30pm ET on Embody's Facebook Page, along with other nonprofit zoom classes each week with our community partners Hushaby Nursery and Gilda's Club. Founder and Executive Director, Dana Christian Lee believes that yoga should be open and accessible to all, and that is how Embody was born.
What Is Our Impact?Embody now serves over 3,000 people in West Michigan, Northern California, Arizona and across our nation. Since our inception, March 1, 2014, we have practiced over 30,000 hours of yoga, mindfulness, and empowerment training. Collectively we have returned more than 3500 hours of volunteer service. We have created over thirty-five community partnerships with nonprofits across the globe to give back through volunteer and service opportunities. The Embody way works! We help people feel better in their bodies, minds, and hearts and in turn inspire them to experience the power of giving something back.

Meet DanaMeet Our BoardOur Partnerships“This community welcomes anyone/everyone without expectation to conform to a certain set of ideals. More importantly, I never feel that I have to hide any part of myself for the 1.5 hours each Wednesday. Any tension, emotion or stress that I may be carrying through the week always seems to resolve itself by the time we roll up our yoga mats. Having this much intention in a community has the power to make a positive difference for body, health, mind and soul of the individuals and the whole community.” – Steve Middendorp, Community Member |
