Sacred tribe, As the days grow shorter & night holds a weightier seat, let us fully embrace this powerful time of year. This time where the veil is most thin, our earthly realm & spiritual realm dance closely. In the 'thin place' is where the divine is more readily sensed.” There is a Celtic saying that "heaven and earth are only three feet apart, but in the thin places that distance is even smaller." Wow... close your eyes, draw a rich breath, and feel, connect, plug in, cross over- you are that powerful & so are your beloved ancestors. This week at Embody, we shall acknowledge the thin places & celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday to celebrate life and honor the dead. We will build an altar to our ancestors & loved ones who have passed on. Bring a photo, a flower, candles, food, drink, or any prized possession to place on the altar. In this sacred act of creation we acknowledge the dead, those on earth, and the divine realm. Collectively we shall celebrate breath & life to the glorious soul scape of Geoff Lamden & body flow with me! May this bit of beautiful poetic wisdom inspire you & may those who have gone beyond live on forever in your heart. "Nothing that lives will not see death Nothing that dies will not see life.... again. Every moment is food for the life we cling to Every chance to love someone is a moment that we shall not capture Bring your hearts to the fire Bring your minds Burn it all You do not need it anymore Not where you are going Like today, We will only need each other. ~Hawk Durham Deep bow, Dana Weekly YogaWednesday, November 1, 2017 ***NO child care What: EmbodyGR Welcomes Geoff Lamden for Dia De Los Muertos! ~ B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga's teachings remind us regularly 'let go' .... all of our tensions, stresses, worries, fears, insecurities. 'Let it all go' I hear myself saying frequently. But then what's left? What's left is a clearing of possibilities; a blank canvas; a fresh page; a new start. There is hope. But what of our past do we choose to keep close? As humans we need a memory, a feeling, a place within us, to hold on to in the present- a foot-hold, even one finger hold to remember that we have grounding beneath us; that our past isn't all a mess; that we aren't constantly having to release fear & negativity solely. There's a fine line between letting go & holding on. We must hold on to each other; to the ones we love; to the knowing we made it to where we are now & not forgetting the courage and work that got us here. The Pueblo's blessing reminds us that as our practice of letting go is continually unfolding, the work of holding on requires our attention and remembrance. ~Pueblo Blessing ~ "Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go. Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you." Breath to breath, remember, you are both continually letting go & holding on. You are an on-going masterpiece sculpting your life, polishing the gem of your heart to shine! Keep breathing, keep hold of the good, keep shedding the past which no longer serves while holding onto the hope that keeps us grounded in now of love, and peace and certain transformation. You are a blessing unto the earth. Your light illumines the way for all you encounter. Share your light in this world that needs you. Hold on to your beloved, especially when you are unsteady; know you are held, beloved, always. Hold on warriors! Hold on to hope! Hold on to love! And too... let gooooo! LasVegas has left everyone breathless. Tom Petty's passing yesterday at 66 created yet another gaping hole in the landscape of American music. And I have personally suffered a painful loss. A dear friend of mine from 8th grade suddenly left his human form this weekend. Loss can grip the heart, feeling as Sheryl Sandberg describes "like boot on your chest." Loss tears at the fabric of what we believe we know to be real & true while eroding away at the foundation of hope & peace we have built up within. At least that's how I feel. Where does one find solace? For me I discovered a balm in the words of Jamie Anderson. “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go” This helps me. Maybe you too? Deep breath in, tears & long exhale out. Let's come together tomorrow, 10/4, with Mimi Ray for our weekly gathering as she leads our community in a heART Prize soulful flow to the music of the incredible Geoff Lamden. Welcome them with open arms, in the special way only EmbodyGR can. And please hold space for me as I gather with friends in Bay City to say goodbye to our dear friend Scot & send blessings to him as he transitions into the beyond. Let's channel any grief, anger, confusion or whatever negative feelings you may be holding into positive energy by "doing good". VOTE for our community partner, Crowns of Courage, Amanda Joy Gilbert & Steve Stone to be the winner of 2D art in Artprize9. Last week EmbodyGR went to view the exhibit at DeVos Place & hear from their photographer as well as be part of the exciting energy around the goodness that is Crowns of Courage. VOTE #65015. You are all precious. Life is a gift. Community heals. Come together. Create connection. Love hard. Laugh from your belly. Cry from the depths of your soul. Shine your light as brightly as you can. The world needs you now more than ever. Go on & LOVE, dana October 4, 2017 ****NO CHILDCARE THIS WEEK**** What: Yoga with Mimi Ray and the gorgeous tones of Geoff Lamden!
