Tribe of amazingness!

How do you feel about change? Is it a dreaded word; something to be feared, pushed away, resisted at all cost? Or do you see change as a gift, an opportunity to grow/learn & embrace it with open arms? As I see it, pretty much the only thing humans like less than change is public speaking. For me, over the years in my roles as a mom, wife, yogi, nonprofit founder, leader & teacher, I have come to acknowledge & accept that change is a constant, in my face, daily presence. Somedays it feels like a fiery dragon breathing down my neck, chasing after me in hot pursuit. Other days I can step more into the flow when the opportunity for change arises and embrace it as a gift. Most importantly I have come to realize I have a choice. And though the struggle is real every day, like yoga, it gets more easeful, though never easy.

Many of you chose to embrace the 'change' from our regular weekly gathering format to a field trip at the Grand Rapids Brewing Company this past week. Many from our tribe were excited about a new opportunity while others wanted their regular weekly dose of yoga & meditation in community at the same place & time. Whatever your response it's completely okay, I just want you to notice you made a choice about the change- to show up or not show up; to embrace or resist. And I am happy to say many took their yoga off the mat & lived out our "do good" mantra by showing up at GRBC! There we viewed the film "Immiscible" which was followed by panel discussion of local experts regarding Line 5 in the Straits of Macinac. A special shout out to Stephanie, Jesse, Dan, Kristina, Quinn, Renee, Mirjana, Tim & Nancy, and Alex for showing up- you made the night extra special. (Stay tuned for a more detailed email with specific actions we can take as individuals & as a community if you are inspired.)

At EmbodyGR, it is our consistent practice to wrestle with the monkeys of change & public speaking. We have on-going opportunities to explore both regularly, whether it's in our personal yoga & meditation practice, sharing our story with the community, or how we approach our "do good" work in our GR community. We continually strive to stay nimble, to course correct, practice non-attachment, be open to new people & opportunities, speak our voice, cultivate our relationship with change while regularly going outside of our comfort zones. Every week we practice radical welcoming of the newest among us, even when it may be a new teaching presence for a week. So... over the next two weeks you get the awesome opportunity to have Embody led by two rad local yoga teachers- Melissa Thorndill on July 19 & Stacy Calcatera on July 26. Please show up, welcome them & each other into our circle of care, and do your personal work which continues each & every week without fail. Know you will be in capable hands & held in my heart. I will return on August 2 for a special celebration that will be announced within the next couple weeks. :) See... I like to keep you on your toes!

Until then, be well. Share you life, shine your light.

Blessings of love,
dana
