Standing up, holding the microphone, speaking my truth, teaching, leading and being vulnerable in front of a crowd never gets easier... only more rich & meaningful. As we know, most of the world would rather die than speak in public. It’s proven by many studies. And though personally every time I speak/teach/lead a group of people I still want to slightly vomit, I keep doing it. Why? To continually step outside of my comfort zone, model the importance of using your voice to my kids, to all young women in particular who are often told to quiet down and not be so loud or bossy & to all those I love. Ultimately I desire each & every day to make a difference in this world! As the saying goes, to find your voice you gotta use it. So people of the world.... crush that fear of public speaking! Start small, but Start! When my kids were freshman in high school, the only class I ever said they were required to take was public speaking. It made all the difference. Watching them struggle, grow, and use their voices has been such a gift. Who’s with me to inspire others take the microphone of their own lives and help them claim their voice & life’s message?! So much gratitude to @lorilvmw for always being by my side at the Walk To Stop HIV for 7 years running- you are the best microphone professional And to Sylvia for being our fearless yoga model on stage for all to follow! I love making the world better with these two. Share with me your experiences with public speaking- do you love it, avoid it like the plague? Let’s dig into using our voices- can’t wait to hear! #lovedana #publicspeaking #useyourvoice #walktostophiv #embodygr #feelbetterdogood #yoga #meditation #community #service #tribelove Thanks Terry Johnson for the photo capture
