Cheyanne's Story“To me Embody GR is a place where I can go where I am accepted by the community. And I have also learned to accept myself the way the way that I am. I feel like I don't worry about things as much as I used to. Yoga has made me feel better about myself mentally and physically. It is nice to know that I am doing something that is good for my mind, body and soul.” – Cheyanne Daling, Community Member Nancy's Story“Embody GR is family to me. We are a community of people from all walks of life that support one another. We share our joys and our struggles. We do the work on the mat to feel better so that we can do good for ourselves and others. Sometimes showing up is easy and at times it is hard. But I am always glad I did. Yoga has helped heal broken relationships in my family. Life at home is better - happier. We eat much healthier now. We enjoy cooking together. We have all lost weight. We volunteer in our community on a regular basis. Doing good is a priority. I am more at peace with myself. Dana has inspired me to be the change that we want to see in the world. Two years ago I went to a yoga retreat that Dana was putting on. With encouragement from my husband, it was the first time that I had ever left my family to do something for me. Dana has gently pushed me out of my comfort zone on the yoga mat and in my life. I now have the courage to have a voice for change. I want the world to be a better place for everyone. I have a grateful heart. Embody GR is special.” – Nancy Daling, Community Member Tim's Story"When I was 6 or 7 I remember doing bomb drills in the hallway of my Christian school. I remember being very afraid. As an adolescent I was smaller than my peers and was picked on, more fear. At home my father abused alcohol, like his father before him, sometimes that abuse extended to our family, more fear. Then a new high school, more fear. Near the end of high school I finally grew & I told myself I wouldn't become a bully. I thought I was a nice guy, a fun person, but my fears manifested themselves as anger. Often coming out at the people who loved me most. Maybe you have heard the saying if you look around and all you see are jerks, maybe you are the jerk. I realized late in life I didn't have to be controlled by my ego.
Then I found EmbodyGR. It has helped me tear down the walls I put up to insulate myself from the pain of the world. I came looking for pain relief for stenosis pain in my feet, what I found was soul relief. This has changed my family’s life and myself. My wife told me I am like a different person. I have embraced our weekly practice with my family. My son was a football player and struggling with his own fears, he was bigger than me, yet felt pressure to be even bigger, he turned to p.e.d.s, likely out of fear. He joined us at yoga, and found his own relief. Now he has lost 100 lbs, myself 50, my wife and daughters lost weight as well. We all combined, figured we lost another person. A large person. As a family we are closer, we enjoy each other more and argue less. We all are broken, and need to accept each other just as we are, without judgment or ego. Embody G.R.'s motto "feel better, do good " has worked on us, helping us feel better about ourselves physically and mentally, which has inspired us to do more for others, looking for ways to help, volunteering in the community. We are all called to help each other in love, not in the egocentric way that is conditional, but unconditionally. We all have our own story, thanks for letting me tell you mine. And thank the divine for bringing me to Embody G.R. " - Tim Daling, Community Member
