Yoga with Love

Hello tribe,

It's week 2 of our 8 week EmbodyGR & Spectrum Healthier Communities challenge. How did you do last week with your new goal? Were you able to connect with your accountability buddy? What roadblocks did you run into? Where did you experience a boost in self-confidence because you were able to do the work? What positive breakthrough did you have?

When we set goals, it's not a linear path but a circuitous, bumpy, rocky, and often dark, scary journey. We feel alone, fall down, get bloody knees, shed tears, & cry out in frustration. But if we hang on to hope, reach out for help, work to shift our state, try again & again, we can make it. Often it's just when we think we cannot take another step or we call on our inner resources that feel tapped out, that we reach the top of a long section of the mountain and get a breather with the sun peeking out to shine down on us & a view that takes our breath away... even if just for a moment.

Since January 1, I have personally taken on a lofty health goal. I have given up coffee, alcohol & sugar. Unfortunately, it was not initially a personal choice but came as a result of being sick with no desire for food or drink. Once my appetite began to return, I decided to grind through the headache & exhaustion and stay 'clean.' Not fun. Coffee & I were best friends. We woke up everyday together and took on the world.  Often I would wind down the day with a glass of wine and chocolate. To say I miss my these elements, my coffee ritual especially, is an understatement. Though, as each day that passes, I am feeling more sustained energy, centered, grounded, calm, and vibrant. It is positively impacting every area of my life. The struggle is worth it. Though I am still challenged each day as I still instinctively reach for the coffee,  I am proud of my efforts, choices and my will power to choose the highest good of my mind, body & heart.

That's my story for now on my path to my personal goal ; the unvarnished truth. How about yours? If you'd like to share please send me an email to Dana@feelbetterdogood.org. Together is always better. Know you are not alone. And I will remember that, too.

We hope to see you tonight.  It's okay if you missed week 1. You are always welcome to join. Simply show up. Bring a journal if you have one. Track your attendance, your progress, and any insights. Let's use these eight weeks to feel better and inspiration to do good.

Next week our very own Peri Jill will be leading Embody in my absence. Please show up... you will be glad you did. Peri is a gift, a light & a blessing. Thanks Peri, we love you.

Be sure to join us February 7 for our Valentine card making & sock collection for our community partner Uprising Yoga out of LA. Let us show our support of incarcerated youth to let them know they are not alone with Valentines! Also, if you are inspired please bring in a pair of plain socks (no words on socks). They are in great need of socks at this time so please "do good" if you can & bring a pair to share. Also bring any card making supplies you might want to use. I will have paper, markers, and crayons available. Let's spread love this Valentine's Day!

Chin up, sides of your mouth up & keep up your good work! Only 7 weeks to go :) You got this!

All love,
Dana
